Governors

Walton Priory Governing Body

Our school governors help to make a positive contribution to our children’s education.

Governors are one of the largest volunteer forces in the country and have an important part to play in raising school standards, as such the role of the governing board is absolutely key to the effectiveness of a school.

Whilst the headteacher is responsible for the internal organisation, management and control of the school, the governors provide strategic leadership and accountability in schools; taking a large responsibility for finance and working with the headteacher to make the tough decisions to balance the resources available.

Welcome from the Chair of Governors

Dear Parents and Carers

On behalf of the governors, I would like to welcome you to Walton Priory Middle School. We work with the Headteacher, staff, parents and the wider community to support the best outcomes for your children.

Governors are volunteers and come from a variety of backgrounds.  Our role is to ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction for the school. We are also required to monitor school performance and oversee its finances. Occasionally, we recruit for new governors and such opportunities are advertised, including in the school newsletter when there are opportunities for parent governors.

It is a privilege for governors to contribute to your children’s development and to celebrate their achievements.  We are proud to support Walton’s long-held values of hard work, mutual respect and looking after the environment; all of which have continued to generate success thanks to the enthusiasm of the Headteacher and staff, and to parental and wider community support.

We hope to see you at some of the events held during the year and would be pleased to hear any compliments, concerns or points of view you wish to share.

Best wishes

Paul Gerrard
